FIRES UNDER BONNET OF LONDON TAXIS LTI TX4S LEADS TO VEHICLE RECALL

Following a number of unexplained fires nearly a dozen LTI TX4 hackney carriages taxis over the last few months, Londons Public Carriage office PCO to action and suspended 669 vehicles in September. this was followed by censing departments of many other cities and towns across the country. On the 26th September a major product recall was announced by LTI Manganese Bronze. In the press release issued by the company they estimated the cost of the recall would be in the region of £4 million not including any claims for drivers loss of earnings.
The press release also indicated that the engine manufacturers VM Motori were also involved in investigating the cause of the fires. At the time of writing the extent as to whichTX4s are involved has not been released Anyone concerned should contact LTI immediately.

These vehicles are often uninsured and if they are will not be covered for hire and reward as a licensed taxi is. So in the event of an accident you will not be able to claim. The drivers are often not from the local area, so will have no knowledge of the roads or how to get from one side of the town to the other! The drivers often getting lost and an argument over the final price is often a consequence.Firstly whatever company you choose make sure they are licensed as a taxi or private hire operator with their Local Council. Any taxi or private hire vehicle you hire should be displaying a current and numbered plate or badge and the driver of the vehicle will also have a valid photo ID badge both issued and showing the local authority they work in.Hackney Carriages are taxis/cabs you can flag down in the street or pick up from a taxi rank.
